Informed Delivery is a free service from USPS that shows you preview images of incoming mail, plus status updates about your incoming and outbound packages. Every morning the USPS will send you an email showing you all the mail pieces that should be arriving that day. The email will have a scanned image of each mail piece that should arrive in your mailbox. An additional service that can be added to the Informed Delivery.
Informed Delivery offers business mailers the opportunity to engage users through an integrated mail and digital marketing campaign that generates additional consumer impressions, interactions, and insights.
This process is not intended for tracking each piece of mail. Informed delivery is intended to track the marketing, Mail recipient must be signed up for informed delivery in order to receive the email with the link to the customers website.
To summarize, Informed Delivery is not the most effective way to track mail. It is intended to drive people to a website or online exposure. This is only efficient when the consumer is signed up for informed delivery, meaning if the consumer has not signed up for informed delivery, they will not even see the informed campaign.
